Pet Quality vs. Breed Quality

FAMILY PET
In an effort to place our puppies into loving pet homes, those who adopt a pet do so at the reduced pet price!

BREED POTENTIAL

Those seeking breeding rights will share the professional financial responsibility of genetic testing, healthcare, and other expenses that were necessary in producing the litter.

Save your new companion from many undesirable behaviors!
Prevent specific health risks!
Protect your $ investment!

1. A Spay/Neuter is one of the MOST IMPORTANT preventative health measures that can be provided for your new pup.

2. There are no negative behavioral changes associated with a spay/neuter, only positive ones.

3. By spay/neuter, you provide your pup with the opportunity to be the very best companion it can be. He/She is relieved of involuntary body chemistries and is free to focus his/her attention on pleasing you.

4. Unaltered pets, both male and female, can expect to experience ALL of the following:

a.  CONSIDERABLE REDUCTION in life span

b.  Offensive discharges

c.  Pymetra or Testical cancers

d.  Stray infections

e.  Behavior/obedience/potty training problems.

f. Disease by breeding, and injury or death by whelping.

5. The procedure is quick and routine.

Health benefits from the spay/neuter are too important to ignore.
For the contentedness of your puppy, please call your veterinarian today!

UPDATE:  Friends, the spay/neuter is extremely serious!  A client called me in tears because she neglected to have her puppy spayed.  Her little girl aquired an infection of the uterus after having been left to enter her second heat!  She died so quickly that even the vet could not locate the problem until the puppy was gone.  Please don't consider that these complications "might happen."  Consider that they WILL happen in the unaltered pet.

1.  It is the recommendation of the American Kennel Club and the Poodle Club of America, that only poodles of exemplary quality be used for breeding purposes.  West Country fully cooperates with these recommendations.

2.West Country will not knowingly sell to anyone who crossbreeds poodles or who breeds outside the standard as set forth by the PCA.

3. While we do not discriminate among breeders, the responsible breeder MUST have a basic understanding, which consists in part, of the following:   "breed standard" for poodles, canine genetics/testing, disqualifying features, veterinary healthcare, terms of ownership, preventative health care, canine education, certifications/working titles/championships, biochemical changes, various training methods.

4.  There is no such thing as a "cheap" breading dog from West Country.  If someone approaches us for a "cheap breeder" this signals a red flag with regard to that person.  Such an individual is indicating that he/she is ignorant with regard to the quality of our poodle pedigrees, and likely has no understanding for how much money we spend building and maintaining our program!

5.Only the "best of the best" will pass our inspection for breeding.  NO EXCEPTIONS.

6. Most breed potential puppies are not posted on this site!   If you are interested in adding a West Country pup to  your breeding program, please provide your first and last name, phone number(s), email, city & state.  We will not entertain anonymous inquiries.
